Russian Section of the Cheminformatics & QSAR society

The main mission of the Russian Section of the International Cheminformatics and QSAR Society is the promotion of chemoinformatics, bioinformatics, (Q)SAR/(Q)SPR, CADD methods' development and application by researchers in Russia and CIS countries.

The Section was founded in 1996 at the Symposium "Computer-Aided Drug Discovery" in the framework of Third Russian National Congress "Man and Drugs". The founders of the Section were working in this field, scientists from the Institute of Biomedical Chemistry of Rus. Acad. Med. Sci. (Alexander Archakov, Vladimir Poroikov, Alexis Ivanov and associates),  Institute of Physiologically Active Compounds of Rus. Acad. Sci. (Oleg Raevsky and associates), Chemistry Department of the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (Nikolay Zefirov and associates).

In 2010, the Section includes about 80 members from Moscow, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Pyatigorsk, Ufa, Chelyabinsk, Barnaul, Ivanovo and other cities of Russia, which represents almost 10% of the total number of the International Cheminformatics and QSAR Society .

The Russian Section is working in close collaboration with the Board of The Cheminformatics and QSAR Society , to stimulate international collaboration in Bioinformatics, Chemoinformatics, (Q)SAR, Molecular Modelling and Computer-Aided Drug Discovery.
